Faith Matters Network has been proud to support many nonviolent direct actions throughout the years. Nonviolent direct action is any form of resistance to violence and injustice that intervenes through nonviolent means or creates a vision alternative to oppression. Nonviolence is not only the absence of violence, but as Southern Freedom Movement leader Diane Nash says, “the presence of agapic energy"-- or the energy of love. Participating in nonviolent direct action can change the world-- and it can also have a major impact on one's body, mind, and spirit for those who participate.
We believe in a world where all flourish, and our path to create that world should include our own thriving activists, healers, and changemakers shifting history. In that spirit, we have adapted a guide for use by our whole network– whether you are engaged in efforts for peace across the world or justice movements in your own neighborhood, workplace, schools, and local community. Let this support you as you take action.
